Mr Joseph Screnci – Non-Executive Director and Chairman
Joe has held non-Executive director roles in a variety of industries including consulting, property development, software development, call centre, allied health, multimedia production, training, migration services, labour hire and not-for-profit. He has extensive experience in business restructuring and transformation, strategic analysis and managing multicultural businesses in the Asia Pacific Region and Europe. Joe also spent 5 years as a non-executive director for Camp Quality, a not-for-profit organisation whose purpose is to create a better life for every child living with cancer in Australia.
He enjoys building enterprise value, sustainability and shareholder returns by encouraging innovation, creating agility, embracing digital transformation, communicating a clear strategic vision, developing environments conducive to high performance and engagement, and identifying and executing mergers & acquisitions that add value.
Joe holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of New South Wales and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Macquarie University and has completed the Company Director’s Course at the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
David Baird – Independent Non-Executive Director
David is a highly respected local government, planning and property environmental law specialist. A leading practising Solicitor in NSW, David has personally appeared in over 300 contested hearings and throughout his career has achieved a success rate exceeding 85%. In his career he has established and managed some of Sydney’s most successful local government, planning and governance practices in Band 1 and Band 2 firms – evidenced by clients including multiple NSW councils, industry leading developers, and private clients across the State that continue to be clients to this day.
He began his career in 1981 as a solicitor and by 1991 he became the Partner in Charge of Planning and Local Government Group at Gadens (then Gadens Ridgeway), as well as taking on the same leadership role at Dunhill Madden Butler/Price Waterhouse Coopers Legal and HWL Ebsworth Lawyers. David established his own firm, Baird Lawyers, in 2015 for select property and government clients.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the University of New South Wales. He is a member of the Law Society of NSW and a part time lecturer in Local Government and Planning Law at the University of New South Wales (UNSW).
Joe (Jie) Ma – Non-Executive Director
Mr. Ma has over 32 years of business experience in China, of which 21 years has been in property, construction and cement industries. He has been an investor in multiple Australian construction related businesses since 2015 and holds memberships of construction industry associations in both Australia and China. Formal qualifications held include a Bachelor of Industrial and Civil Engineering and achieving Registered Construction Engineer status in March 2005 and Registered Construction Technical Services Consultant in December 2007.
Mr. Ma joined the company in April 2021 and was appointed a non-executive director. In addition to being a non-executive director, Mr. Ma was designated by the Board of Directors to provide support and guidance on all aspects of Oldfields’ China operations including relocation, new manufacturing facilities during COVID-19 and ongoing management of local supply production chains and supplier relations. Mr Ma’s ability to navigate locally the manufacturing environment in China provides the company with a unique set of oversight in terms of quality assurance and cost-management.
Michael Micallef – Chief Executive Officer
Michael has over 25 years’ experience in sales, general management and executive leadership across large and medium multi divisional distribution enterprises, and specialises in organisational turnaround, growth and transformation.
He was appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive of Oldfields’ Holdings Ltd in August 2022. Prior to his appointment, Michael was Managing Director of Nisbets Australia and New Zealand where he led a comprehensive business transformation program resulting in significant revenue and profit growth across the group.
Prior to this, Michael held various senior leadership positions for 10 years at Winc (formerly Staples | Corporate Express) one of Australia’s largest workplace solutions companies. In his last role of General Manager – Business Development and Enterprise, Michael led the turnaround and restructure of the Australian and New Zealand sales teams during a complex GTM transformation and was a core senior project lead during the merger with OfficeMax.
Michael is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
James Stavroulakis – Non-Executive Director
James is currently an independent consultant providing financial support and taxation services to SME companies in the construction industry. With 25 years financial experience he has held a number of Chief Financial Officer positions in construction and property development businesses and was an Executive Board member with both his previous employments.
James considers that the road to success is always under construction and has assisted and contributed to the growth and success of the companies he has worked with through business restructuring and transformation into new markets and regions domestically and overseas. He has also provided guidance and training into the implementation of accounting software packages for strategic growth and reporting.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with merit majoring in Accounting and Finance from the University of Wollongong, he is a qualified CPA with the Australian Society of CPA’s. He is also a registered Tax Agent with the Tax Practitioners Board of Australia.
